tearing off the doors

I love the results from this post, I decided to do some more!

Here is the before...

and now....... I used the same glass cloth from my last tear down.

 I get to display my "Blue Heaven" bowls. LOVE!

At first I was going to take down just the 2 doors, but then decided....
what the heck, take down 3.
I love it.  Bob was against the idea at first...
it was three less cabinet doors for him to leave open.

 I think he like it now, it's 3 less doors that he has to open to empty the dish washer!

Well, our LG microwave popped it's last bag of popcorn; 

and my husband happily(he is not a fan of LG) dropped kicked it to the curb this morning.

Which left me with the loveliness pictured below...

a lovely vent hole which shone the light of day.

I had nothing in the cabinets, so it was pretty much a waste of space.

Bob patched the gaping open hole, in which bugs could have entered.

We removed the doors, and I wallpapered the back
 with some fabulous grasscloth wall-covering that I scored at a yard sale for $2.00.

Lots of room now for a new microwave and other stuff!

Yay, some new stuff!

Out came my collection of metal capped mason jars....
My few, but special cook books.

My pyrex, and Blue Heaven bowls!!!!

Changed my mind and put out the pyrex refrigerator set instead.

Oh my! I love it.
 I even had room for a basket of cooking necessities.

Unfortunately, there is no room for the new microwave.
It's a price I must pay for some fabulous looking shelves,  full of vintage goods.

I found these beauties today at a little antique shop about a half hour from the house.
I love the vintage can($6.00), the patina is perfect.
The hand chopper($15.00) is great, I love the color of the handle.

This is my favorite...a little mixer ($25.00)from the 40's.
I would never have spent that much but it is in perfect condition.

I also found this great bird planter($6.00),
it looks great on my kitchen window sill.

... and goes great with my asian toothpick man.

and my duck planter......I love them all together.

 Overall,  a great Thursday!

May 27th....

is Bob's Birthday, and this year it is our 10-th anniversary.
Bob got breakfast in bed with the boy, along with matching Coca Cola t-shirts.

the shirts were Ivan's idea.

I got Bob a very nice pool float. He likes it!

Bob also got a tropical "event" for his special day.  It wasn't so bad......
We did lose part of our roof shingles, our power for 18 hours, and our clean pool.

a bit breezy I'd say.

 No electricity gives you plenty of creative time. I made these for my little shop...

the garage sales have been pretty good....
found these candle holders for $3.00, they are now in my little shop.

Hola, I thought I would share an easy V-Days treat, since I hate those
manufactured boxed kids valentines day cards.

cute, huh! super easy! and inexpensive!

all you need are some cupcake papers,  some lollipops, 

and a little twisting motion.

fold cupcake paper in half

trim it up a bit, if you wish (this is totally optional)

Layer coordinating papers (optional)
Make a small snip in the bottom middle of the papers.

push pop through the little hole

twist and fluff...(add a bit of tape if needed)

create a bouquet!
(use file labels to adress them if desired,
write to: and from:,
and secure label to the pop handle, by folding it onto itself)
does this make sense? should I add a photo?

Ivan's class is full of boys.
 No worries, find boyish cups, and chocolate tootsie pops!

I guess I am Ivan's class mom.
Back in Scarborough, Maine, women would claw your eyes out to be the class mom,
down in these parts, not so much.

Happiness is...... cupcakes for a 3rd grade class!

"the boy" was suppose to be helping with all of these V-day treats,
but there were ZOMBIES  that needed slaying!

.....and hammocks to be rocked in...and spare lollipops to be eaten.

I found these adorable vintage children's prints at a local thrift store.
I think they are from the 50's

 They were $1.00 each framed.
I did take them out of their plastic frames, they were pretty horrible.

if you look closely, it appears that the picture was painted,
and the felt-type objects were placed on the painting,
and then a photo was taken.

The ribbons on this one look real, not painted. hmm

The mouse is most definitely fuzzy.

so cute.
 I thinking about sending them to Princeton,
 to adorn some little girls bedroom!!!


HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

with no-boughs of holly...and no real greens.
I would be all set, if I wanted to deck my halls with palm fronds.
Florida decorating is much different than Maine decorating.
Generally, my main Christmas decor is evergreen branches and berries....lots of them!
They are free and plentiful in Maine, but pretty much non-existant in Florida.

To start things off,  I broke out my new Marimekko  table cloth!

drum shade $3.00 at yard sale!!!!!!! Yes!
capiz shells from wind-chime $16.00.  Fabulous!

I loved the table cloth so much I took it off the table.
 I have a kid, and a Bob.....
There is no way it would have stayed white for long!
