it's how we roll

in February in Florida!
morning sun in a favorite corner
a late morning view from the hammock
80 degrees with an amazing breeze.
cloudy breaks to cool off a bit.
an afternoon of swimming
skim boarding,  boogie boarding
and dog happiness.
early evening southern sun
the windows wide open!

a bit of sight-seeing

.......and a bit of company!  When company comes to town, a stop at the beach is a must.
hundreds, and hundreds of birds.

Chelsea and the birds.

perfectly peaceful....

crazy bird-lady Becky.

We swung by American Beach to check out the tallest dunes in Florida.

A bit of a rest after some shopping...
Goddess Deeder, and me.

I bought my girl Deirdre a pineapple.....from Feel-it.
actually his name is Felix. He is a fixture in the downtown area.

A pirate!
down at the docks.

A trip to Old Town.....Phew... Amelia Island is packed full of history!

Plaza San Carlos

hmm..."kite flying" on a windy day.

all the single ladies.

Ladies Street was the sight of many bordellos back in the day,
now it is the site of this amazing home.

The most northern point of the island.
you need to take the good with the bad!
I wanted to take this driftwood home, but it was too big, and heavy!

A trip to the Bosque Bello "beautiful wood" cemetery

crazy upside down buckets everywhere.
what are these for? very Blair Witch!

an ancestor????
hem...
two trees in love
Back to the docks for some up-close time with nature.
my favorite birds

We were literally 2 feet away, and he couldn't care less.
Loads of yummy beverages with friends....

a visit from Charlotte

Excuse me Sir, may I have some of you oranges?
sure,  take a few

to know Charlotte is to understand this!

A trip to Tasty's

It was tasty, but it wasn't the best.  It was rather expensive.

Ivan liked it.
Bob and Charlotte liked it.

Charlotte rocked in our backyard.
loads of shade, very depressing space.

I got this rocking air plant at a nursery in Jacksonville
Bob laid a slate path...
while I hung our new West Elm drapes.
these are smelling amazing.
lovely afternoon light!
a bit too much time in the hot sun!

my contribution to the outdoor work....curly mint for my mojitos!

Off to Shucker's for 50 cent oysters!
it ain't fancy, but it's so good!
fried green tomatoes
awesome oyster po-boys! the bread was divine!

Charlotte and I took a ride to American Beach
what an amazing place!
Along the way we ran into this little home made chapel.
Amazing stuff, in an unexpected place!

lovely Charlotte!

One of the reasons I Love Amelia Island so!
